How I see
Sculpture
If I had been born in centuries past, I may have chosen the life of a sculptor.
Rodin’s Thinker is one of my all-time favorite sculptures. I light bodies the way a sculptor carves them: shape first, then shadow, then the space around it.
Music
Listen to music by Enigma. Then you’ll hear how I see.
Atmosphere before detail. Layers, echo, and space. That’s the feeling I’m chasing in every frame.
Water
Breathe in deeply. Then let half your air out.
Underwater, the body finds shapes it can’t hold on land. I’m working toward a fine-art book of this work.
The desert
Growing up in the desert may explain my minimalist approach to photography.
The desert can be bleak. I find purpose creating beauty in the midst of that harshness.
